Peter Fletcher Real Estate in Victoria Park, Perth were breaking away from The Professionals group to become an independent real estate agent. I created a fresh new look for the company following directions specified by the client. I was responsible for the design and implementation of the logo and producing a styleguide to show strict guidelines on how the logo could be used. This was then applied across different mediums, such as the shop signage, website, stationery and other collateral to produce a strong, consistent look.

Providing technical support to the design studio. Solving hardware and software problems. Making sure the studio ran smoothly. Managing 20 studio macs from older macs up to the latest G5s including the fileserver with ethernet network, PDFserver, Filemaker Pro database server and a collection of ibooks used for presentations. Keeping upto date and introducing new software and digital input devices within budget, while making sure designers would have full access and knowledge to use them. Providing technical support over the phone to ibook users setting up email, presentations when out of the studio. Studio migration to Mac OS X.

The creation and production of the Portico Designs website. Using Dreamweaver, BBedit, Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks, Illustrator to create the site. Introduction of browser based FTP software which allows the company to fully utilise it’s broadband connection to electronically send PDF artwork to printers. This cuts cost of postage and allows for tight deadlines to be met. I used Perl programming to enable the software to work in the studio environment. I also introduced online shopping to account holders. I introduced these technical additions to the site while keeping it’s design.

PDF Workflow System
April 01 - Nov. 01

Investigating and introducing a PDF workflow system into Portico Designs studio , enabling work to be output using PDF and so saving time and money. Liaisons with all printers to discover best way of supplying files. Studying and testing all PDF software to discover which to invest in. Setting up PDF server and back up R.A.I.D. within studio and training designers and project managers on the benefits of this workflow system. Studying colour management(ICC profiling) to produce accurate results throughout the studio and with printers.

WH Smith’s Simpsons Stationery Range
Mar. 00 - July 00

Design from concept to finished product the 2000 Back-to-School range of Simpsons stationery for the major UK retailer. Liaisons with 20th Century Fox and printing companies based in Korea, China and UK to ensure smooth running of project. Producing advertising fpr the range, ringbinders, lever-arch binders, pens, notebooks and pencil tins using a variety of processes. Working within budget and deadline. Using diecuts, four colour process printing, spot colour printing, 3D software to produce computer visualisations and mock-ups at various stages to show clients and other potential customers.
